Hewlett-Packard on Monday announced it would cut 29,000 jobs from its work force -- 2,000 more than it had announced in May.
The disclosure, in a regulatory filing, states that the cuts will occur through fiscal year 2014, with a portion of those employees taking voluntary early retirement packages. The additional 2,000 cuts come after HP announced back in May that it planned to eliminate the jobs -- roughly 8% of its workforce -- to become a leaner and more profitable company. The company will book $3.7 billion in reorganization costs during the period.
