One company called Crestron touted its room-by-room customization tools, at the CEDIA EXPO (custom electronic design & installation association) in Indianapolis last week.

Crestron's wall mountable tablet device lets you adjust the settings in each room of your home using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Want to close the blinds in your bedroom? You can do that from the tablet, which comes in three sizes: 5-inch, 7-inch or 10-inch tablets.
