Stunning Visualization Shows How The xx's New Album Went Viral

Recently, The xx partnered with Microsoft on an interesting project: The band created a visualization that shows how the stream of its album Coexist has been shared around the world.

To do that, the band set up a site which lets viewers share an audio stream of its new album, Coexist, via Facebook, Twitter or email. Every share is visualized on a map as a curve, ending with the location of a new listener.

To make it all the more interesting, the band initially shared the stream with only one fan to see how the news will spread. The visualization lets you see the sharing progress at different points in time starting Sept. 3, when the stream was first shared.
